The Improvised Shakespeare Company

Joey Bland

Joey Bland moved to Chicago from Virginia, where he attended the College of William and Mary. Outside The Improvised Shakespeare Company, he has performed with ComedySportz, the iO Theater, and The Second City. For two years, Joey traveled the world with The Second City Touring Company, and in 2009, he played the title role in The Second City's hit, original musical, Rod Blagojevich, Superstar. Joey is a two-time Jeopardy champion.

Ross Bryant

Ross Bryant has been performing with The Improvised Shakespeare Company since their first show at the iO Theater in Chicago. Ross is an alumnus of The Second City Chicago where he was a member of the National Touring Company before joining the resident cast of the Second City Mainstage. Now in LA, Ross can be seen weekly at the Upright Citizen's Brigade. Television credits include The Good Place, Blunt Talk, Wild 'N Out, and Viceland's comedy show Flophouse. Ross is also a cartoonist, and his original animations have been featured on Comedy Central's Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube. Follow him on Instagram @rossbb

Andy Carey

Andy Carey performed, toured, and taught for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Idaho Shakespeare Festival, and the Boise Contemporary Theater after receiving his B.F.A. from the University of Idaho.  Since moving to Chicago he has trained with the iO Theater, The Second City Conservatory and the Annoyance.  In addition to The Improvised Shakespeare Company, Andy is a member of Baby Wants Candy (Chicago), Willie Nelson Slept Here (iO Theater) and A Crew of Patches theater company. Much love to his wife Christy and son Keagan.

Brendan Dowling

Brendan Dowling is a Massachusetts native and a graduate of the College of William and Mary.  In Chicago, he has toured with The Second City's National Touring Company and has been a member of ComedySportz.  He also performed in The Second City Denver's inaugural production of Red Scare, as well as writing and performing The Second City Denver's How I Lost My Denverginity.  Brendan can also be seen creating improvised musicals with Baby Wants Candy. He would like to thank his family for being so great.

Randall Harr

Randall Harr spent two years in Amsterdam performing with the comedy theatre Boom Chicago.  In addition to this, Randall wrote and performed in the Second City Cleveland reviews Who's yer Baghdadi? and No Shirt, No Shoes, No WMDs. His other Second City credits include Sex and the Second City, Rod Blagojevich Super Star (Chicago Shakespeare Theater), and Peach, Drop, Stop and Roll (Atlanta's Alliance Theatre).  Randall has also performed for the Second City on the high seas aboard the Norwegian Dawn.  Randall would like to thank his family for their continued support and love.

Greg Hess

Greg Hess is an actor and writer currently living in Los Angeles. He can be seen performing at the Upright Citizen's Brigade and is a founding member of the critically acclaimed Cook County Social Club. Past credits include LA to Vegas, the TBS Just For Laughs Festival, The Second City National Touring Co, Key & Peele, Soul Man, CollegeHumor Originals, Funny or Die Exclusives, and My Mans. He co-created Schlub Life a Comedy Central pilot, and is a contributing writer for the Onion News Network. Josh Logan

Joshua D Logan is an actor/writer currently living in Los Angeles where he can be seen performing with Ski Doo Secret and The Flyers. Past credits include Baby Wants Candy, Second City's Bizco, Michael Pizza, and The Deltones at iO Chicago.  Josh has created several web series including Liars, Raft, and Old Town and has provided content for Warner Brothers, Funny or Die, College Humor, WIT.tv and Cracked. Thomas Middleditch

Thomas Middleditch has been an ISC company member since its first show in 2005. He can currently be seen as Richard Hendrix, the central character in Mike Judge’s (recently Emmy nominated) series on HBO, SILICON VALLEY. Thomas was most recently in the feature films, THE FINAL GIRLS, and THE BRONZE opposite Melissa Rauch from "The Big Bang Theory". Thomas has also been featured on THE OFFICE, playing the role of Dwight Schrute's brother, and he was “Fuzzy” in the Paramount Pictures feature, FUN SIZE.  Other film work includes: WOLF OF WALL STREET, BRASS TEAPOT, THE KINGS OF SUMMER, THE OTHER GUYS, BEING FLYNN, and SPLINTERHEADS.  In addition to being a member of THE IMPROVISED SHAKESPEARE COMPANY Thomas is a regular performer at UCB.  www.thomasmiddleditch.com.

Asher Perlman

Asher Perlman hails from Wisconsin, where he cut his teeth as a child actor in the Young Shakespeare Players. Credits include The Second City e.t.c. stage, The Second City National Touring Company, Comedysportz, iO, and the TBS Just For Laughs Festival - Chicago. He can regularly be seen performing at The Second City with Improv All Stars, The Annoyance with Cartoon Sex Book, and iO with Naps. John Sabine

John Sabine grew up in Dallas, TX, and after graduating from Santa Clara University with a BA in Theatre & Dance, he moved to Chicago to attend Second City's Comedy Studies Program. He has studied at the Second City Training Center and iO Chicago. He can be seen around Chicago performing with The Late 90’s and is an alumni of the Second City Touring Company. Kevin Sciretta

Kevin Sciretta has been improvising, writing and performing in Chicago for over 10 years where he has performed with pH Productions and DSI’s The Beatbox. At iO Chicago he has performed with The Deltones, BulletLounge, and Challenger. He is an alumni of The Second City National Touring Company.  Currently he can be seen at The Second City in Fast, Loud and Funny and at the Annoyance Theater in Cartoon Sex Book. Blaine Swen

Blaine Swen is the creator and director of The Improvised Shakespeare Company and currently lives in Los Angeles. His iO Chicago credits include the two-person group Blessing with Susan Messing, the house team Bullet Lounge, the one-man improvised musical, BASH!, The Armando Diaz Experience, The Deltones, and Challenger. He has also performed in Chicago with The Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, The Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Pegasus Players Theatre, The Second City Education Company, and The Backroom Shakespeare Project. He has toured the country with The ISC, the iO Road Show, and The Second City's BizCo. His television credits include Crisis (NBC) and Odd Couple (CBS). Ric Walker

Ric Walker is an actor, director, writer and teacher who has toured extensively for Wavelength, an education based comedy troupe and for The Second City in BizCo and BoatCo, where he toured the Mediterranean and European ports. He has appeared in numerous plays in and out of Chicago including No Place to be Somebody, Red Badge of Courage and The Balcony. He has starred in independent films such as The Promise Keeper, Propellerheads, and Deadbeat at Dawn. He has worked as a corporate spokesman for such companies as Eli Lilly, Computer Associates and Oracle. He has taught Improvisation, Acting and Writing for organizations including Pegasus Players, After School Matters and The Second City. In addtition to The ISC, Ric has been a member of Comedy Sportz Chicago and MCTD (Midwest Comedy Tool & Die). He is a member Emeritus of Second Story (Serendipity Theater Collective). Ric holds an MFA from the University of Pittsburgh and is a lecturer at Columbia College.

Steve Waltien

Steve Waltien is a Shelburne, VT native and graduate of Middlebury College. Steve currently lives in New York where he is a staff writer on The Opposition with Jordan Klepper.  Prior to that he was a staff writer and performer for Jon Stewart's HBO project. Steve is an alum of The Second City Mainstage in Chicago where he also wrote and performed many shows at the iO theater. He created and performed the Del Close award-winning solo show ‘Scenes With Ghosts' as well as several critically acclaimed sketch shows with Jordan Klepper. You can see him touring the world with The Improvised Shakespeare Company. You may have caught him on screen in things like 'The Second City Project', 'Chicago PD' or the recent Mike Birbiglia film 'Don't Think Twice.' Steve sends his love and thanks to Kate and Thomas.

John Thibodeaux

John currently works a staff writer on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.  He is an alum of the Second City Touring Company and member of the critically-acclaimed improv team 3Peat.  John also co-created the online pilot The StartUp which won the CWseed development deal at the New York Television Festival in 2013. Matt Young

Matt Young is an actor, improviser, producer, director, and writer based in Chicago. He’s most well known as Usidore the Wizard from the podcast, Hello from the Magic Tavern. He also leads the inept crew of the U.S.S. Sisyphus as Captain Baxter in the Improvised Star Trek podcast. He is a founding member of Whirled News Tonight, the long-running improvised satire at iO Chicago. In addition, he has appeared in other improvised shows such as The Welcome to Your 30s Boys and Concept Album, and as a company member of the Public House Theatre, he helped create the comedic plays How to Lose Your Job and Alienate Friends, Christmix, and Bunker Buddies.
